A ring of Fairy Tales

A ring is a traditional gift for graduation (so my parents told me). My Mum and Dad presented me with a beautifully wrapped book size gift. Inside was a Folio Society edition of the Grimm's fairy Tales illustrated by Arthur Rackham. I have always hankered after a folio book but they are pricey.

When I opened up the book however, inside was a surprise...someone had cut into it!
What transpires is my Mum and Dad ordered a bespoke 'Literary Jewel' from Artist Jeremy May of Little Fly
It's an amazing piece, I have compressed fairy tales on my finger, I love it!

After recovering from this mornings late bedtime and even later rising I spent the afternoon making earrings to hopefully sell on SCA's open day this Saturday.

Earring's for Sarah

After months of trying to get together, my friend Sarah and I snuck in a few hours between finishing work and catching trains. I must admit that I was a few presents behind so this afternoon I made up some earrings for her.

This pair are lamp work glass beads. Opaque Scarlet on transparent grey (the palest tint) and sterling silver findings.











This pair are roughly cut Citrine from Mayagems with Maria George seed beads on "brass" findings.

Earlier this year when my Nana came to visit from England we met up in Avalon to check out the beads at Mayagems. Nana was insistent that she buy me some and I have finally put them together in a necklace. The beads are petrified shell from Nepal with brass, turquoise and carnelian inclusions. The largest bead is hollow brass with a floral and animal motif, the spacers are brass.

Artist of the day

Liz Hammon makes "jewellery and small sculptures using mostly recycled books,maps and other paper. She sometimes like to produce wire crochet pieces."
